Anitha is from India originally. She went to England in 2003 and spent more than a decade there. She moved to Rockhampton, Australia in 2015. Her art practice began subsequently.
She was self-taught then, experimenting with oil paints and brushes in her home studio. In 2017 and 2019, her entry as a finalist in Rockhampton Art Gallery’s biennial art award, The Bayton Award, was a turning point for her to pursue art professionally. She joined the Central Queensland University to do a Diploma in Visual Arts in July 2019.
Anitha has always been enthusiastic about art especially painting. Her passion for it remained untapped as she remained busy in homemaking for years and then decided to pursue a career in teaching for a while. Her shift to Australia changed a lot of things for her with regards to her outlook on life and career. She realised her burning desire to express through art.
Currently she is working on a series of paintings in an attempt to start a conversation on dichotomy of cultures and mindset.
